For the last seven months the Pure Markt http://www.puremarkt.nl/ has shown its face on a monthly basis (with exception of July), just past the Ringdijk in Oost-Watergraafsmeer in Park Frankendael. This specialized market brings together local and regional, traditional, creative, sustainable food, drinks, and products. The paths of the park are lined with not only stands, but also games and small carnival rides for the kids, picnic tables for enjoying the great treats, and live music.
Amsterdam rarely has a shortage of creative artsy events. One could fill an entire weekend hopping from one private gallery to another, trolling shops for small trinkets, followed by nights of unique performances and parties at the many formalized squats and dive bars; but it has yet to have a regular market aimed specifically at a creative, artsy, pop scene.
What can one expect to find in a single city block? Can one block alone give a fair representation of all a city has to offer? And in a city as diverse and unique as Amsterdam, what are those inherent qualities that one longs to expose? These were just the sorts of questions I asked myself as I made my way out onto the streets of Amsterdam.
We were about to bother you again with a technical coverage of the new iPhone 5, but then we decided" what the hell for..."
