Inside Design 2013 Came Downtown Amsterdam

The past two years the event was mainly located in IJburg, but Inside Design 2013 brought its creativity and colorfulness downtown Amsterdam. The event kicked-off with drinks and confetti at the ELLE Decoration Studio – The Lobster House, stylishly decorated for the occasion. It continued over 98 hotspots in the heart of Amsterdam, including the Utrechtsestraat, the Center, the Haarlemmerbuurt, the Museumkwartier and de Pijp. Each visitor received the exclusive Elle Decoration City Guide, giving information about all the lectures, exhibitions, performances and lunches. It also included an overview of all the stores participating in the event.

Inside Design 2013 Highlights

The highlights included presentations at the ELLE Decoration Studio hosted by their own stylists; pop-up stores; the new collection of the Dutch designer Nicolette Brunklaus, inspired by nature, art and architecture. The program included selections by Bebob Design, a classic interior design studio that has been an Amsterdam institution for over 25 years, as well as a workshop for making lamps @ Studio Snowpuppe. The series of photographs that Karl Lagerfeld shot for furniture brand Cassina were also displayed during Inside Design Amsterdam 2013.

The pop-up store of the international design agency Frederik Roijé presented the collection within the theme Design Factory. It was the place to see how original ideas have been transformed into products for home. Co van der Horst also presented the latest trends in the redesigned authentic old Café Oosterling. The Dutch designer Pepe Heykoop’s work was presented in a home-setting, since he opened up his own house for the Inside Design. There was also a mobile cafe offering snacks, drinks, and lunch at a different spot along the route of the festival.

Inside Design Festival is a smaller version of the leading international furniture fair in Milan. The first edition took place in 2003, in collaboration with Studio Jacob de Baan.
