Bali: The Paradise Island

The island of Bali offers a vacation experience like no other. Glorious beaches, lush rainforests, luxurious villas, and a fascinating native culture make this island a true paradise for visitors.

Bali is an Indonesian island on the western end of the Lesser Sunda Islands. Its capital is the city of Denpasar in the south. Visitors tend to flock to Kuta, Sanur, and Jimbaran, all southern coastal towns, but the central town of Ubud and other parts of Bali are equally compelling. Gleaming white and black sand beaches ring the island’s shores, lapped gently by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Rich coral reefs surround the island and allow for superb snorkeling and diving. The island rises in mountains toward its interior, and bursts with tropical flowers and trees. Bali’s rainforests are home to hundreds of species of rare birds as well as monkeys, bats, wild cats, and other creatures.

The island has an overwhelmingly Hindu population, as opposed to the Muslim majority of the rest of Indonesia. Balinese Hinduism combines Hindu, Buddhist, and traditional beliefs. Over 20,000 temples and shrines have earned Bali the name “Island of the Gods”, and many of these exotic places of worship welcome visitors. Visitors can observe performances of mystical rituals by costumed natives combining dance, music, and drama. Gamelan, a Balinese form of percussion music, is a uniquely powerful acoustical experience. Bali is also known for its handicrafts, including wooden and stone carvings, paintings, batik and ikat cloth, sculpture, metalwork, and leather. Villages often specialize in specific crafts.

Bali villas provide private and luxurious accommodations at affordable prices. Villas are available in numerous styles and budgets throughout the island. Many offer housekeeping, cooking, and spa services, combined with lovely tropical locations. Bali villas are an excellent choice for anyone visiting the paradise island.
