On the first Saturday in November every year, the museums of Amsterdam open their doors between 19:00 and 02:00AM and turn into a big cultural and entertaining platform.
One of the biggest annual events in the Netherlands Museum Night takes place on 2 November 2013 and offers the opportunity for visitors to explore the cultural institutions of Amsterdam and see them in a way they have never seen them before, with many special activities including workshops, music, shows and performances. Most of the museums also offer food and drinks as well.
The participating museums this year are 50 and include the Amsterdam Museum, Anne Frank Huis, Artis Aquarium and Planetarium, Van Gogh Museum, Hermitage, Nemo, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Tropenmuseum and Foam.
